The Kamloops Music Collective (KMC) is a non-profit organization that provides young musicians opportunities to learn, play and perform music through a variety of programs, and under the mentorship of teachers and performers in the community. Our largest program is the Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music which is a three-week, all day music program each July with classes that cover a wide variety of musical genres.
The Kiwanis Fraser Valley Music Festival Society was founded in the Spring of 1999, becoming a non-profit society and registered charity in 2001. The Society is a partner of Kwantlen Polytechnic University and the festival is held in the Music Wing of their Langley campus each April and May.
The festival is a project of the Kiwanis Clubs of White Rock and Clearbrook and is a member festival of Performing Arts BC, the Federation of National Music Festivals and MusicFest Canada.
Over the past eighteen years, the number of entries has steadily increased. We host more than 6,500 participants, more than 10,000 unique visitors and record more than 20,000 person visits each year. For many years, we have been one of the largest annual events in the Langleys and one of the largest educational performing arts festivals in the Province.
2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the MusiCounts Band Aid Program, which provides musical instruments to schools in need. Since 1997 MusiCounts has grown significantly and by the end of 2017 will have awarded over $10,000,000 through its programs. These funds will have benefitted over 950 schools and community organizations, supported over 350 post-secondary music program graduates and honoured 12 extraordinary music teachers.

Our choral program has gained an international reputation, through frequent performances with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and on CBC Radio, in concert at Carnegie Hall in New York, and touring to China, Korea, Eastern Europe and the Ukraine. Instrumentalists play with a concert band or jazz combo, various chamber music ensembles or orchestra.
The School of Music at UBC is the largest school of its kind in western Canada. The study of music was introduced at UBC as early as 1935, with noon-hour lectures and recorded recitals. The first formal courses, offered through the Department of Extension, were introduced during the war years. The first class of Bachelor of Music students began their studies at UBC in September, 1959.
Today, with a faculty of distinguished composers, scholars and performers, the School of Music produces graduates who work in all aspect of the music industry from high profile artists and composers such as opera stars Ben Heppner and Judith Forst, and internationally acclaimed composers such as Paul Steenhuisen and John Estacio to members of orchestras and chamber ensembles around the world. Non-performance graduates, less in the public eye but as important, are the hundreds of graduates who write, research and teach, at universities, public schools and privately as well as graduates working behind the scenes in concert production, broadcasting, arts management and the recording and film industries.

We offer a Bachelor of Music University Transfer Program, a one-year Basic Musicianship Certificate, and a two-year Music Technology Diploma. Our Community Music School offers a range of non-credit group classes for youths and adults.
A national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the Sea , Army and Air activities of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities.
Cadets also learn valuable life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership and citizenship.
