Update - Thursday, May 9, 2024
Hello BCMEA members,
There has been a lot of movement behind the scenes that I want to make sure you’re aware of before we get much further into Spring. I know many of you are beginning to make plans for your annual trip to the lower mainland for the conference. As you are making your plans, we want you to know that there are changes upcoming so this does not catch you by surprise.
Our conference has outgrown the River Rock and we have long felt the need to have our honours ensembles rehearsing and performing on-site so teachers can attend and use that as yet another professional development opportunity. As well, the River Rock is undergoing significant renovations that would negatively impact our ability to run our conference in that space in 2024.
As a result, BCMEA Conference 2024 will not be held at the River Rock.
We are planning to be in a temporary location in 2024 (which will be confirmed shortly) and are working to secure a long-term site for 2025 and beyond. This will allow us to integrate the conference and honour ensembles moving forward.
This is a huge change for our conference and we know you will appreciate how many moving parts we are have to coordinate. The conference team is finalizing the contract details with our 2024 site and we will share the location once the paperwork is complete.
Thank you for your understanding and support,
BCMEA Board and Conference Team
